Intense French performance artist Oiver De Sagazan. His transformations are really inspiring for me right now as I'm learning about transforming people into someone or something else.

ARTIST: SIMONS, BERT

Bert Simons is a totally rad Dutch artist that makes these surreal paper portrait sculptures. He uses fancy hi-tech computer scan mapping of peoples heads and recreates their likeness in these shockingly realistic 3-d paper sculptures. Some are even full body. These vaguely sub-human simulacra are sort of haunting. If I witnessed one in person I would constantly be expecting one to turn its eyes toward me and start talking backwards.

SUBJECT OF INQUIRY: ANATOMY

Human anatomy has been a subject that has fascinated me for years. Our internal workings are so intricate, delicate, and complex. When you really look at them, it seems unlikely that all of these oddly shaped little pieces should come together to form one cohesive system. Anatomical imagery is often viewed as abject, morbid, or completely grusome but I look there and I see beauty. I constantly find myself drawn to it. It's truly amazing to me that, on the inside, most of us are made up of the same bits and pieces, yet somehow no two people are alike.
